The Peoples Democratic Party, South West Zone, has vehemently denied a press conference held in Ibadan on Monday, where certain individuals purportedly condemned former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, expressed support for Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, and pledged allegiance to the Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee.

A statement released on Monday by Zonal Publicity Secretary, Akinloye Oyeniyi, described the event as a clever ruse orchestrated by impostors lacking any mandate or legitimate representation within the party.

Oyeniyi clarified that the zonal leadership was absent from Ibadan at the time of the purported press conference, with Zonal Chairman, Engr. Deji Doherty, attending the 108th meeting of the National Executive Committee in Abuja.

According to Oyeniyi, the absence of a Zonal Vice Chairman, a crucial position for any structure claiming to represent the PDP South West, laid bare the illegitimacy of the group, which is not recognised by any party organ from ward to national level.

Oyeniyi emphasised that the individuals behind the gathering are not affiliated with the party and are instead driven by a destabilising agenda that has ultimately backfired.

In a scathing critique, Oyeniyi likened the group to a "psychiatric ward with no staff," stating that their actions would inevitably lead to consequences and that their attempts to destabilise the party have been thwarted.

The PDP South West Zone reaffirmed its unwavering loyalty to the Mohammed Abdulrahman-led National Working Committee and to the party's National Leader, Nyesom Wike, characterising this loyalty as absolute and unshakeable.

The zone advised the impostors to rejoin the party through legitimate channels, cautioning that no amount of media manipulation or propaganda could legitimise their actions.

Oyeniyi urged the public, party members, and the media to disregard the Ibadan publication entirely, confirming that all official communications from the PDP South West Zone would continue to be issued exclusively through recognised party channels under Engr. Deji Doherty's leadership.
