nThe Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Iya, on Friday, said boarding schools would resume on Sunday, September 13, while academic activities in all public and private schools would begin on Monday.
n“However, schools that have been closed as a result of insecurity shall remain closed until further notice. The Ministry will communicate any decision regarding their reopening when it is considered safe and appropriate to do so,” the statement added.
nIt urged parents, guardians, School-Based Management Committees and Parents-Teachers Associations to ensure the prompt and orderly return of students.
nTeachers were also directed to commence academic activities immediately after resumption.
n“The ministry’s inspectors will conduct monitoring visits to schools across the State to assess compliance with the approved resumption schedule and ensure that academic activities begin as planned,” the statement said.
nThe Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Prof. Ahmad Ladan Ala, directed heads of parastatals and agencies under the ministry to monitor the resumption and ensure a smooth start to the new academic session.
nAla thanked stakeholders in the basic and secondary education sector for their contributions during the previous academic session and urged them to maintain their commitment in the new session.
