The Independent National Electoral Commission has launched a mega Continuous Voter Registration centre in Jos, the Plateau State capital, to boost PVC registration.
The centre, located at Secretariat Junction, Jos, under the bridge, commenced operations on Wednesday and will operate from March 25 to 30, 2026, between 9 am and 3 pm daily.
Addressing journalists after monitoring the commencement of registration at the newly created mega centre, INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Abubakar Sadiq, explained that the mega centre is part of efforts to address challenges faced during the first phase of CVR, including long distances, large crowds, insecurity, and difficult terrains.
Sadiq said, “The Commission has reviewed the report from the state offices and other stakeholders with emphasis on the challenges encountered during phase one of the Continuous Voter Registration. Among the challenges highlighted in the reports are long distances between the registration areas and LGA offices, large crowds at the Registration Centres, insecurity and difficult terrains.
“In view of the highlighted challenges, the Commission approved the rotation of Voter Registration across the 207 registration areas in the 17 LGAs in Plateau state to run for a 50-day period in phase two of the CVR in order to address these challenges. Consequently, the rotation of the voter registration commenced on 2nd February 2026 and will be concluded on April 10, 2026.
“The last week of phase two will be at the LGA offices. Furthermore, in continuation of the Continuous Voter Registration phase two voter registration, which commenced on the 5th January, 2026 to end on the 17th April,2026 and in a bid to further facilitate the exercise, the Commission has also approved the conduct of a mega CVR exercise in Plateau state being one of the privileged states selected out of the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria
“The mega continuous voter registration exercise is scheduled to take place at Secretariat Junction, Jos, under the bridge from Wednesday, 25th March, to Monday, 30th March, 2026, between the hours of 9am and 3pm daily.”
The INEC REC noted that the registration of voters at the new mega centre had commenced with the deployment of about twenty registration equipment to the area.
Sadiq urged citizens to take advantage of the mega centre, saying, “We want people to take advantage of it. Plateau is one of the six states selected from the six geopolitical zones, and we should be lucky to be counted among the lucky ones
“We have seen a good number of citizens taking advantage of the exercise and will now continue for the next six days. They close by Monday, so the remaining weekend, inclusive so that civil servants who may not have the opportunity during working days can also register,” he added
