President Bola Tinubu on Monday received Taiwo Oyedele, the Minister of State-designate for Finance, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, marking Oyedele’s first official audience with the President since his appointment.
Sources familiar with the meeting said the discussion focused on Nigeria’s ongoing fiscal reform agenda and strategies to strengthen public finance management.
Before his appointment, Oyedele served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform, which produced Nigeria’s new consolidated tax laws. He had also been actively involved in engagements with the President and other government officials on tax reforms, revenue mobilisation, and broader economic policy initiatives.
As Minister of State for Finance, Oyedele is expected to collaborate with the Federal Ministry of Finance leadership to advance policies aimed at enhancing revenue generation, promoting fiscal discipline, and improving the efficiency of Nigeria’s public finance system.
The appointment comes as the Tinubu administration continues to implement reforms designed to stabilise the economy, increase government revenue, and create a sustainable fiscal structure for national development.
