The Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASP Nahim Daso, who disclosed this in a statement, said the bag was recovered at about 0900 hours during a routine operation. surveillance and foot patrol.
He said, “On 5th May, 2026, at about 0900hrs, during routine. Surveillance and foot patrol, operatives of the Borno State Police Command recovered a suspicious bag abandoned at Layin Logo, Moduganari area of Maiduguri.
According to him, “the Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit Base 13 was immediately deployed to the scene, where an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) concealed in the bag was identified and safely detonated in line with standard operating procedures”
Daso called on members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious persons or objects to the nearest Police Station
The PPRO stated that investigations are currently ongoing, while assuring that further details will be provided in due course.
