A brutal killing occurred in the "T Mama" area of Minna, Niger State, on Monday morning, claiming the life of 30-year-old Aliyu Musa Vatsa, a Point of Sale operator, in his own bedroom at the hands of unknown assailants.
Vatsa's residence was forcibly entered by the suspects, who callously disregarded his pleas for mercy and offers of a substantial sum of money, saying "We don't need your money; we are here just to kill you", according to eyewitnesses.
Despite hearing Vatsa's cries for help, neighbours were unable to intervene in time to prevent the attack, which involved the victim being stabbed in the stomach and then brutally macheted across his body.
The assailants fled the scene, leaving Vatsa mortally wounded, and he was rushed to Minna General Hospital, where he tragically died before receiving medical attention.
Vatsa's elder brother, Malam Ibrahim Kolo, expressed his devastation at the attack, describing it as "shocking, sad and pathetic", and confirmed that his brother has been laid to rest.
Malam Ibrahim Kolo has urged the police to take swift action to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure they face justice for their heinous crime.
When contacted for a statement, the Public Relations Officer of the Niger State Police Command, Superintendent of Police Wasiu Abiodun, declined to comment on the incident.
