NDDC UNDER FIRE: MASS PROTEST IMMINENT AS EX-AGITATORS REJECT SILENCE AND DEMAND ACCOUNTABILITY
The leadership of the Third Phase Presidential Amnesty Programme has issued a strong clarification that the planned mass protest against the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is fully on course and has not been called off.
This statement becomes necessary following deliberate misinformation from certain quarters attempting to mislead the public that the protest has been cancelled. We state clearly and unequivocally: the protest is alive, active, and gathering momentum.
Speaking on behalf of the leadership, the National Chairman of the Third Phase, General Elaye ThankGod Dollar Slaboh, reaffirmed that the protest will take place, while explaining the strategic delay.
“The delay is intentional. Several pressure groups and stakeholders have keyed into this struggle, and we are giving them the opportunity to fully mobilize. The date will not be publicly announced. When the time comes, the action will speak louder than any notice.”
The leadership also addressed growing attempts to discredit ex-agitators, insisting that such narratives are both ignorant and unacceptable. Ex-agitators are not outsiders—we are critical stakeholders in the Niger Delta struggle and have every legitimate right to demand accountability from institutions established for our region.
We make it categorically clear that the current board of the NDDC under Dr. Samuel Ogbuku has fallen far below expectations. The Commission, which was created to serve the people, is now widely perceived as serving a narrow circle of political elites.
It is deeply troubling that while the ordinary people of the Niger Delta continue to suffer neglect, there are allegations that the Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, is awarding contracts to only politicians, raising serious questions about priorities, transparency, and the true beneficiaries of the Commission’s resources.
Additionally, there are growing concerns that contracts and empowerment opportunities are being selectively distributed to political associates, leaving genuine stakeholders sidelined. This is unacceptable.
On claims that the protest is politically motivated, we reject such baseless accusations in their entirety. We are not sponsored by any politician, nor are we acting on behalf of any political interest. We are a pressure group driven by the urgent need to demand fairness, equity, and accountability.
Let it be known: This protest is not a threat—it is a necessity.
This protest is not politics—it is a demand for justice. The leadership remains resolute. The people are mobilizing. The message is clear.
The protest is loading… and it will shake the foundations of complacency.
Signed: General Elaye ThankGod Dollar Slaboh National Chairman Third Phase Presidential Amnesty Programme
