Maduka University has admitted 967 students during its third matriculation ceremony, underscoring its commitment to delivering quality, future-oriented education.

The ceremony, held at the university’s international stadium, drew dignitaries, academics, and stakeholders from across the South-East and beyond.

Speaking at the event, the Chancellor and Founder, Samuel Maduka Onyishi, stressed the institution’s long-term vision of building a sustainable and value-driven university system.

“The university is not a 100-metre race but a marathon — a continuous process,” he said. “Our focus is not just on increasing numbers, but on providing the right environment and facilities for meaningful learning.”

Onyishi also highlighted the importance of innovation and technology in shaping the university’s academic framework, noting that strong institutions are built on vision, discipline, and core values.

Delivering his matriculation lecture, the Vice-Chancellor, Samuel Chijioke Ugwu, described education as a critical driver of sustainable development and institutional relevance.

“Universities must produce solutions, not just certificates,” he said. “Sustainability is not a slogan; it is disciplined continuity — the decision to build today without destroying tomorrow.”

He emphasised the need for curriculum reform, urging institutions to adopt industry-driven and research-based approaches that promote innovation, critical thinking, and real-world impact.

Ugwu reiterated the university’s “new thinking” philosophy, aimed at producing entrepreneurial graduates equipped with leadership and decision-making skills.

The matriculation ceremony marks the beginning of a new academic journey for the students, as the university continues to align its vision with global standards in education, sustainability, and innovation.
