On Friday, thousands of youths, women, and supporters of the All Progressives Congress, APC, took to the streets of Kosofe Federal Constituency in Lagos State for a solidarity walk in support of Kafilat Ogbara, the member representing the constituency in the House of Representatives, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The rally coincided with the third anniversary of Ogbara's tenure in the National Assembly and drew participants from communities such as Kosofe, Ikosi-Isheri, and Agboyi-Ketu, showcasing a strong display of unity.
The event's organisers stated that the rally aimed to celebrate Ogbara's three years of stewardship and express support for President Tinubu's administration, particularly its efforts to address insecurity across the country.
Participants carried banners and placards with inscriptions like "Kosofe Unites for Ogbara and Asiwaju" and "Continuity for Progress" as they marched through major roads in the constituency, accompanied by chants of solidarity.
According to youth leader Ahmad Adebayo, the large turnout served as evidence of the lawmaker's widespread acceptance at the grassroots level, with Adebayo noting that the community's response had been swift and decisive.
Adebayo stated, "They spent weeks fabricating fake victories and trying to create confusion online, but it took the real people of Kosofe just 12 hours to come outside and clear all doubts," highlighting the community's strong support for Ogbara.
Adebayo further added, "We did not gather today just to celebrate three years of unmatched empowerment, infrastructure, and federal representation, we gathered to send a message that the grassroots want continuity, and Ogbara remains our choice.
Party stakeholders and community leaders commended the participants for maintaining peace during the event and urged supporters to remain law-abiding while respecting the APC's internal processes.
