Allegations have surfaced that political thugs, purportedly sponsored by a disqualified All Progressives Congress House of Representatives aspirant, stormed the party's state secretariat in Akure, disrupting the collation and announcement of results from last Saturday's primaries.

This incident prompted security personnel to intervene, evacuating the seven-member National Assembly Primary Election Committee, which was being led by Hon. Iboroma Harry Dabibi, from the secretariat to ensure their safety.

Ondo APC Chairman Kolawole Babatunde, along with other party executives, electoral officers, delegates, and supporters, were forced to escape through the back door as the situation became increasingly volatile.

According to eyewitness accounts, the thugs ordered the committee chairman to halt the announcement of winners, creating a tense atmosphere that led to people leaving the premises to avoid any further escalation.

A source close to the incident revealed that the chaos began after a committee member received a phone call instructing that the proceedings be halted, with many assuming the call came from the governor, but later discovering it allegedly came from someone else within the state government.

The source further alleged that the thugs had arrived at the secretariat before the committee, strategically positioning themselves to cause chaos, and had mobilized supporters from different wards to shout and threaten disruptions, making it unsafe for many to remain.

In response to the incident, the Ondo APC has established a Primary Appeal Committee to hear petitions from aggrieved aspirants, with the committee set to convene at the party secretariat starting today.

According to State Secretary Alex Kalejaye, the committee's purpose is to provide a fair and just platform for addressing grievances, and it will continue to sit until all complaints have been addressed, as stated in a recent announcement.
