Dr. Peter Mbah, the Governor of Enugu State, has extended his congratulations to Rangers International F.C. of Enugu on securing their ninth league title, with this being their second victory under his administration.

The team's achievement has brought immense pride to the people of Enugu State, with the players and management earning a revered place in the state's history, according to Mbah.

Rangers International F.C. claimed the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League trophy on Sunday, defeating Ikorodu City Football Club 2–1 at Onikan Stadium in Lagos, and concluding the season with 68 points.

This tally surpassed Rivers United, which accumulated 67 points after defeating Katsina United 3-0 in Port Harcourt on the same day, thereby securing the top spot for Rangers.

In response to this development, Governor Mbah expressed his congratulations, stating, “On behalf of the Government and good people of Enugu State, I convey our profound congratulations to you on your well-deserved and hard-fought ninth league title, the second under our administration.

He noted that the team has not only reclaimed the title they won in the 2023/2024 season but also restored Enugu's reputation as a hub for champions, by reenacting the heroics of Rangers of old and following in the footsteps of revered legends.

According to the governor, Rangers' victory serves as a significant reward for his administration's investments in the club, and will also serve as a morale booster for the 27th National Sports Festival, which Enugu is scheduled to host in November this year.
