FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE IS THE KEY TO FREEDOM
Financial independence remains the foundation of true freedom. Some of us, despite being members of the ruling APC, still speak out against wrongdoings within the government because we do not depend on political appointments or civil service jobs for survival. We have our own businesses that put food on our tables and sustain our families.
In Bayelsa State, I have come to realize that many people believe that whatever the Diri-led administration does is right. This is largely because a significant number of people depend on political appointments and government jobs for their livelihood. As a result, many are afraid to speak against perceived wrongdoings for fear of losing their appointments or opportunities.
People like me, Chief Inko Brightstar, popularly known as General Whoknows Tomorrow, are different. Despite being a loyal member of the ruling APC, I will always speak the truth and challenge anything that is not in the best interest of the people.
Today, I want to encourage every Bayelsan to have a source of income outside political appointments and civil service work. Develop a business, learn a trade, invest in agriculture, or engage in any productive venture that can provide for you and your family.
As for me, I am a farmer. Though my farm is not yet large because I have not received government support, it has remained profitable and continues to provide income for me. Every two months, I make supplies from my farm, and the proceeds help put food on my table.
My message to Bayelsans is simple: think beyond politics and government jobs. Build something of your own. Financial independence gives you the confidence to speak the truth, defend your convictions, and contribute meaningfully to society without fear.
Thank you, and God bless Bayelsa State.
