Federal University Otuoke Staff Arrested for Rape and Child Molestation in Imiringi

The community of Imiringi in Ogbia Local Government Area was thrown into shock yesterday following the arrest of Mr. Kingsley Sunday, a staff of the Federal University Otuoke (FUO) security department, over allegations of rape and child molestation.

Mr. Sunday was apprehended by the Community Development Committee (CDC) of Imiringi, led by its Chairman, Mr. Afagha Ayens Daniel, and was immediately handed over to operatives of the Nigerian Police SWAT unit in Yenagoa for further investigation.

Community sources disclosed that Mr. Sunday had previously resided in Emeyal, where he was allegedly sent away due to similar misconduct before relocating to Imiringi. His latest victim, a minor said to be between 10 and 12 years old, was reportedly living under his roof with his wife.

During his arrest, several women in Imiringi came forward, accusing Mr. Sunday of serial harassment of women and young girls, including farmers returning from their farmlands. Additional reports also link him to similar misconduct in Otuoke, where he is employed at the university.

The development has triggered widespread outrage, with residents, community leaders, and rights advocates demanding a thorough investigation and justice for the victims.
