By Ozioruva Aliu, Benin City

Edo State Governor, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, on Monday assured investors of a conducive business environment for industrial growth, job creation, and sustainable economic development, as he performed the groundbreaking for a 100MW power generation plant and 300 metric tons per day LNG facility at Taihu Industrial Park in Ologbo, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area.

The governor said the facility, expected to be operational within six months, reflects growing investor confidence in Edo State and its commitment to energy security and industrialisation. Okpebholo emphasized that his administration prioritizes investment over monetary considerations, offering free land for the project and operating strictly within the law.

He further noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recognizes power as the backbone of industrialisation, and Edo State would harness it to boost manufacturing and economic growth.

Local government chairman, Hon. Eric Osawaru, described the project as a milestone for the community and Nigeria’s energy sector, while Commissioner for Power, Paul Usebor, hailed it as a step toward transforming Edo into a hub for reliable power and industrial development.

Okpebholo also called on the host community to extend the traditional Edo hospitality to investors, assuring protection of their investments and an enabling environment for business.
