Comeback victories have defined Como's season, and their 2-0 win at Genoa on Sunday was no exception, as they maintained their pursuit of a Champions League spot and applied pressure on Juventus in the process.
Goals from Tasos Douvikas and Assane Diao, both scored with headers in each half, sealed a well-deserved win for Como at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, propelling them back into fifth place, just two points shy of fourth-placed Juventus.
Juventus, meanwhile, face a crucial test against AC Milan at the San Siro, with both teams vying for a coveted spot in the elite European club competition, making Sunday's fixture a highly anticipated one.
The stakes are high for Juve, given that Roma, currently in sixth, are level with Como on 61 points, and a slip-up could prove costly in the quest for a top-four finish.
Cesc Fabregas' Como had once been favourites to secure the final Champions League spot, but a mere point from their previous three matches allowed Juve to gain ground, while also enduring a disappointing elimination from the Italian Cup at the hands of Inter Milan on Tuesday.
Inter Milan, fresh from their Italian Cup victory over Como, can now shift their focus to the Serie A title, and a win against mid-table Torino would be a significant step in that direction.
