US rapper Nicki Minaj has taken legal action against Nigerian influencer Dr Penking, citing alleged cyberbullying and copyright infringement as the reasons for the lawsuit.

The dispute began to unfold on Saturday when Dr Penking posted an old video of Nicki Minaj on X, accompanied by a caption that suggested she should retire due to her age.

In response to the post, Nicki Minaj took to social media to question whether Dr Penking had obtained the necessary permission to share the clip, and accused him of using it to harass her.

She also revealed that Dr Penking had been added to her lawsuit, stating "Do you have permission to use this video that I filmed years ago to harras me on this or any platform? You’ve just been added to the suit," in a now-deleted tweet.

In a defensive statement, Dr Penking asserted that he and his team were prepared to face the lawsuit, emphasizing that freedom of speech and expression is a fundamental right that allows him to express his opinions at all times.

Dr Penking further argued that his comments were not harassing, citing the fact that Nicki Minaj's age, 43, is publicly available information on Wikipedia, and that his suggestion that she should retire was simply his personal opinion.

He maintained that he would not be intimidated or bullied by Nicki Minaj or any other celebrity, and stood by his right to express his opinions freely.
